Laban building

Trinity Laban is the UK’s only conservatoire of music and contemporary dance. Leaders in music and contemporary dance education, we also provide exciting opportunities for the public to encounter dance and music, and access arts health programmes. The unequalled expertise and experience of our staff and our world-class facilities are housed in landmark buildings.

 

In 2005, Trinity College of Music and Laban, leading centres of music and contemporary dance, came together to form Trinity Laban, the UK's first ever Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Our innovative course provision, exciting performances and groundbreaking education, community and social-inclusion work make Trinity Laban a leader in the advancement of creative artistic practice. Our unique conjunction has created exciting opportunities for collaboration between instrumentalists, singers, composers, dancers and choreographers.

About Laban

Laban is one of Europe's leading centres for the training of professional contemporary dance artists.  At the heart of South East London's thriving arts community, Laban is a creative and cosmopolitan community of performers, choreographers, teachers, designers and researchers, and is acknowledged internationally as a leader in the contemporary arts.

With one of the largest teams of specialist contemporary dance artist teachers in the world, our world-class facilities include a 300-seat theatre, studio theatre and outdoor theatre, 13 purpose-built dance studios, one of the biggest Pilates studios in the country and an extensive library and archive.

At Laban we believe that contemporary dance has a vital part to play in everyone's lives. Our unique mix of energy and creativity advances the dance art form and fuels the dance world, connecting people to the exhilarating possibilities that dance offers.  Our links with the professional dance world, local communities and other arts organizations ensure that an experience at Laban will be a rich and rewarding one.

Located within the beautiful Wren designed King Charles Court at the Old Royal Naval College, Trinity richly deserves its international reputation as one of the premier institutions in the United Kingdom for the study of music.

Trinity is celebrated for its fine facilities, which include state-of-the-art practice rooms equipped with superb pianos, the outstanding Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts and the magnificent concert halls in nearby Blackheath.

We have long been acknowledged for fostering and promoting a caring and supportive environment in which our students can flourish and we are particularly proud of the high profile of our professorial staff, who work as acclaimed soloists or belong to top London orchestras and opera companies.
