External Examiners are a key element of our quality assurance processes. They help to ensure that:

• assessment methods are appropriate and measure student achievement against the intended outcomes of the programme
• assessment is fair and just, operated in line with the institutional regulations and - for validated provision - those of the validating university
• appropriate academic standards are set and maintained
• standards are comparable with similar awards conferred by other institutions

External Examiners also contribute to the development of programmes and our learning and teaching practices.
