Kit and Equipment List
Please find detailed below the Musical Theatre Equipment list. We are aware that many of you embarking on your training with us may be relatively new to dance and may not be familiar with the types of clothing you need to wear in order to present yourselves professionally and adhere to health and safety standards. Also documented are a list of show essentials that you will need throughout the duration of the course. We recognise this is an investment for you, but it is important to remember that these items will be used not only in your studies but also in your independent study and professional work in the future.

In order for staff to be able to give detailed feedback on alignment during your training and to adhere to our safe practice principles and professional approach to training and performance needs, we request that you have the following items for practical sessions. Your tutors will advise you on the type of training clothes most appropriate for each technique class:
Dance classes:
Ballet
- Leotards, tights, unitards, ballet socks
- Split sole ballet shoes with elastics attached
- Appropriate supportive underwear such as dance belt
- Hair tied up appropriately
Jazz/Tap
- Close-fitting dance practice clothes (eg leotard, leggings, unitard, sports/yoga tops, vest tops ) any colour and style
- Jazz Pants
- Jazz Shoes
- Jazz Trainers (Optional)
- Black Tap Shoes
- Appropriate supportive underwear such as dance belt
Acting/Singing
- Appropriate clothes that facilitate adequate movement
- Tracksuit or similar to wear over practice clothes
- Only indoor footwear to be worn in the studios
Performance Essentials
- Black & flesh New Yorkers OR Black Ballroom shoes
- Long Black Dance Stage Skirt (Not required for the foundation)
- Long sleeved Black Leotard (Not required for the foundation)
- Flesh coloured dance tights appropriate to your skin colour
- Black Tailored suit trousers
- Black/White shirt
Miscellaneous
In addition, please ensure you have the following items:
- Recording device – You may have this function on your phone
- Stationery:
- Folder with plastic wallets for repertoire storage
- A5/A4 notebooks
- Pens/pencils/erasers/sharpener
- Laptop and headphones:
- Please bring your own laptop and headphones. This is essential for your studies including blended learning activities in your programme, independent study activities and saving documents including your own work, and accessing emails, Moodle, and the TL intranet on a regular basis.
