Exciting Torch Relay News For Trinity Laban
07 November 2011

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance today said it was
delighted to be chosen as the starting point for the London 2012
Olympic torch relay on Monday 23 July. Lewisham Council
nominated Trinity Laban as the starting point for the Lewisham leg
of the relay and are extremely proud that the nomination was
successful.
The Principal of Trinity Laban, Professor Anthony Bowne, said
Trinity Laban was honoured to be taking part in London 2012
history:
"We are a world class conservatoire for music and contemporary
dance students both locally and from around the world - but we are
also deeply proud of our Deptford roots and our work with the local
community, and we would like to thank Lewisham Council for
nominating us."
"We also have key Olympic links, as our Stirling award winning
Trinity Laban building in Deptford was designed by Herzog and de
Meuron, who designed Beijing's Birds Nest Olympic
Stadium."
Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock, said, "Trinity Laban is
a landmark building in Lewisham and we are delighted at the success
of our nomination. Welcoming the torch relay to our borough will be
just the start of our celebrations of the London 2012
Olympics."
Once it leaves Trinity Laban in Deptford, Lewisham, the torch will
then be welcomed in Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Merton and
Wandsworth.
