Trinity Laban Partners with Rutgers University, USA
08 April 2011

Trinity Laban is pleased to announce a new agreement with Mason
Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University - the state university
of New Jersey, USA. Junior and Senior students (equivalent to
UK third and fourth year students) from Mason Gross' Dance and
Music departments will study at Trinity Laban as part of Rutgers
University's Study Abroad Program.
Trinity Laban Principal Professor Anthony Bowne welcomed Dean
George Stauffer, together with Deans Coakley and Reinert from the
US School in March. The group visited Trinity Laban's Music
and Dance faculties and met Director of Dance Mirella Bartrip,
Director of Music Dr Claire Mera-Nelson and Trinity Laban
colleagues including Rebecca Duschl (pictured), an alumnus of both
institutions.
Rebecca, who completed her BFA at Mason Gross and her MA Dance
Performance as a member of Transitions Dance Company at Trinity
Laban last year said "This is fantastic news! I am so glad to have
studied at both institutions and I know that this will be a great
opportunity for dancers from Mason Gross. To know the agreement
covers not just dance but also music is even better. I have loved
being a part of the process and would love to continue to help in
whatever way I can."
Professor Bowne commented "It is clear that our two
organisations have a great fit. We're delighted to sign this
agreement to work together in dance and music, and look forward to
developing further opportunities for collaborative activity."
Mason Gross School of the Arts is the conservatory arts
provision within the Douglass campus of Rutgers University.
It comprises departments of Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts
and has over 1000 students. This accord is the result of the
energetic work of the Associate Professor and Chair of the Dance
Department, Julia Ritter, together with the Trinity Laban 'Team
USA' (Dr Martin Hargreaves, Dr Emma Redding and Tony Thatcher) who
visited the school in November 2010.
