Alumni News: two top appointments

Solenn Grand with harp

Two Trinity Laban alumni – dancer Megan Armishaw (BA) and harpist Solenn Grand (MMus) – are both celebrating recent job appointments.

Megan has just joined the Candoco Dance Company, while Solenn has been appointed Principal Harpist of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra in Rio de Janeiro from September 2015.

Megan Armishaw was a member of Transitions Dance Company, with whom she performed works by Shang-Chi Sun, Hubert Essakow and Martin Nachbar. Since then she has worked with groups such as London SoundPainting Orchestra, On the Roof collective and The Mostly Everything People. In 2014 she worked for celebrated American dancer and choreographer Yvonne Rainer, performing her seminal works Trio A and Chair Pillow, as well as the UK premieres of Diagonal and Talking Solo.

Megan says: “It’s a huge pleasure to be joining the team at Candoco and it represents a step forward in my career. I can’t wait to discover new ways of doing and seeing dance with them.”

Solenn Grand’s appointment to the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra is the next step in an already promising career. She is Principal Harpist of the Filmharmonie Frankfurt, regularly performs with the Frankfurter Kapelle, and has performed as a soloist across Germany. She is also a regular guest of the IEMA (International Ensemble Modern Academy), with whom she performed under the baton of Thomas Adès at the Pompidou Centre, Paris.
