Young musicians from school years 5-8 will have the opportunity to work with musicians from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the local music services in Greenwich and Lewisham in two open access courses.
Participants local to the boroughs of Royal Greenwich or Lewisham will be introduced to the evocative work The Isle of the Dead by Russian Romantic composer Rachmaninoff and will have the opportunity to create new works in a friendly environment. Players from any musical background and level of experience are encouraged to take part, including people interested in Music Technology.
Project manager for Animate Orchestra, Helen Hendry, says: “Animate Orchestra provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to work creatively together in a friendly and supportive environment. By providing the opportunity to work alongside inspiring professional musicians, young people can develop their musical talent and potential.”
Animate Orchestra’s May half term courses run from 26-27 May in Lewisham and 28-29 May in Greenwich. For more information and to book a place, visit the Animate Orchestra website.
