Backspace Collective, a dance co-operative of Trinity Laban students and alumni, presents its first evening of works on Saturday 11 April 2015 at Longfield Hall in Camberwell.
The collective has been in residency throughout March making a variety of new works, and will be showing these alongside older works.
Mathilde Lepage, who graduated with honours in 2014, and is Vice-President (Dance) of the Trinity Laban Student Union for 2014/15, says: “Backspace came about out of the current climate in the freelance world; it is difficult to be self-sufficient as an individual artist to present your own work.
“This event has been created completely from scratch by the artists and shows a commitment to creating opportunities in a challenging industry.
“With six different choreographers and a selection of guest performers, our work is varied and eclectic, whilst sharing common themes and attitudes towards humanity, society and the world we live in.”
The night will consist of performances by the collective, as well as live music by guest artists, plus installations in the bar area.
Mathilde says the collective hopes to expand the show in the future to allow other artists to work with them, to engage with and show the work of emerging and talented local and international artists in a professional way.
Tickets are £5 and you can book online at www.backspacecollective.co.uk or buy on the door.
