Candoco opens Trinity Laban's new season of dance

On 2 and 3 October, a double bill from critically acclaimed inclusive dance company Candoco kicks off a new season of dance at the Laban Theatre.

CounterActs features a world premiere from star choreographer Alexander Whitley as well as a welcome return for 2014’s Let’s Talk About Dis, by visual artist Hetain Patel. This is the very first performance of an international tour.

Alexander Whitley was nominated in the category of Breakthrough Artist at last year’s Sky Arts Southbank Awards. He has worked with the likes of Rambert, Michael Clark and Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, and has recently established the Alexander Whitley Dance Company. His new work promises high emotion and unforgettable visuals.

In Let’s Talk About Dis, co-written with Candoco, Patel battles with themes of identity, inclusive language, and political correctness gone mad. Showcasing an array of voices and views, Let’s Talk About Dis will challenge your thinking with humour and charm.

Trinity Laban’s eclectic autumn dance programme also includes a new commission from Sarah Dowling and Kath Duggan (in collaboration with Greenwich Dance), screenings of dance films from Andre Semenza and alumnus Fernanda Lippi, a mesmerising evening in the company of Liz Aggiss, and a return for Zoi Dimitriou’s The Chapter House. There’s also the chance to see our brilliant final year undergraduate students perform five newly commissioned works. For full details see the Trinity Laban website.
