The Greenwich Dance & Trinity Laban Partnership’s Compass Commissions scheme has announced its first phase of research and evaluation, to start in summer 2016.
Compass Commissions, now in its fourth year, is the flagship artist development programme of The Greenwich Dance & Trinity Laban Partnership. Annually, it commissions selected UK-based dance artists to produce new work comprising one of three strands: site-sensitive work, theatre-based work and work for family audiences. The programme enables innovative concepts to thrive by offering cash funds, extensive creation space, advice and production development support.
Previous Compass Commissions choreographers include Dan Daw, Wendy Houstoun and Rahel Vonmoos (whose work to find a place is pictured). The selected artists for 2016 are Botis Seva, Stephanie Schober, and Tom Roden & Anna Williams.
This year, Compass Commissions is looking for an experienced research consultant to work in collaboration with the programme’s artists, reflecting on the process of creation and drawing conclusions on what it has to offer. The results endeavour to influence best practice across the industry.
