Curated by Empirical

UK jazz ensemble Empirical have partnered with Kings Place to curate part of the 2017 Jazz at Kings Place programme, which will run until Saturday 13 May 2017.

Empirical will present high-profile performances by artists who are an important force on the UK and international music scenes.

The series will feature unique collaborations and debut new projects; each concert offering a distinct and fresh take on jazz. Empirical want to bring together artists who aren’t afraid to take creative risks and present challenging music to listeners.

Two members of Empirical - Shaney Forbes (drums) and Lewis Wright (vibraphone) - are Trinity Laban alumni. Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, the group have continued to receive widespread recognition, including a MOBO Award for ‘Best Jazz Act’ in 2010, ‘Best Jazz Act’ at the 2016 Urban Music Awards and ‘Best Jazz Ensemble’ at the 2016 Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
