Stage actor and dance alumnus Radhika Apte has won the lead role in British producer Michael Ward’s Indo-British film Bombairiya, the story of a film publicist who has a habit of putting out fake news.
Radhika, who was recently praised by critics for her performance in Badlapur, graduated from Trinity Laban with a Diploma in Dance Studies in 2011. She made her Bollywood debut with Mahesh Manjrekar’s Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi in 2005, and has since acted in Hindi, Marathu and English theatre.
Michael Ward says: “I’m delighted Radhika has joined our film. Her talent, versatility and charm are just what the character of Meghna needs.”
Radhika adds: “I think it is fascinating that international producers are bringing their energies and focus into Hindi cinema. Bombairiya is a lovely script and Meghna is a character unlike anything I have played before.”
Many skills learnt at Trinity Laban are transferable to a range of creative career paths in different countries. With students from over 60 countries currently studying at Trinity Laban, the Conservatoire has a culturally diverse atmosphere, with international student support services available throughout the year.
