Free improvisation group goes on tour

Mopomoso

Trinity Laban staff member - and student - David Leahy is about to go on tour with free improvision group Mopomoso (short for MOdernismPOstMOdernism SO what?).

The tour runs from 23-30 April, and will stop off in Oxford, Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham, Brighton, Sheffield and Manchester. On each night of the tour local musicians will join the improvisations. Musicians appearing include Kay Grant and Alex Ward, Alison Blunt, David Leahy, Benedict Taylor, Pat Thomas, Keith Tippett, plus Evan Parker, John Edwards and John Russell as House Full of Floors.

David said: "London has been a prominent centre for free-improvised music since the 1960's and the music continues to attract musicians and audiences, who are interested in challenging themselves (and their instruments) in the exploration of collaborative music making, devoid of any particular aesthetic or stylistic parameters."

Mopomoso reaches its 21st year in 2013, and its regular night is held at The Vortex in Dalston, London. Mopomoso on Tour is produced by Sound and Music and supported by Arts Council England.
