A financial bursary for a student with a background in the Royal Navy has been generously awarded by the Greenwich Hospital charity.

Greenwich Hospital - the organisation that owns the Old Royal Naval College site where Trinity Laban’s Faculty of Music is situated - have offered one bursary each year to undergraduate students with a family background in the Royal Navy. The award comprises £3000 for up to four years. This is the first time this financial award has been given in the two years since its establishment.

Guitarist Jack Pennifold is the recipient for 2015/16, currently in the second year of his bachelors degree. His father served in the Royal Navy on board HMS Fife before training for the Submarine Service. Jack’s grandfather was also in the Royal Navy, serving for 33 years.

Jack commented:

‘I’d just like to say thank you to Greenwich Hospital for awarding me this bursary. It will enable me to take advantage of every moment I have here a Trinity Laban to further my studies and skills.’
