Jubilee Quartet wins at Trondheim

Jubilee Quartet

The Jubilee Quartet has won third prize at the prestigious Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition. String quartets from all over the world enter the Trondheim competition, which focuses especially on advanced student quartets and young professional quartets.

Stephanie Edmundson (viola) Lauren Steel (cello), Tereza Privratska and Alanna Tonetti-Tieppo (violin) are the Richard Carne Junior Fellows for String Quartet at Trinity Laban for 2013-14.

Formed in 2006, the Jubilee Quartet has performed extensively in the UK and its continental tours have included a performance in the presence of former Czech president Vaclav Havel. The quartet also enjoys a variety of outreach work as part of the 'Live Music Now!' scheme.

Trinity Laban's String Chamber Music Coordinator, David Kenedy, said: ""What an astonishing result for this young quartet to achieve so early in their year with us, so richly deserved, continuing a long line of successes in the history of our String Quartet Fellowships.

"The generosity of the Richard Carne Trust enables both Trinity Laban students and staff to derive maximum benefit and enjoyment from their inspirational playing."

A Trinity Laban Junior Fellowship offers a rare and exciting platform for exceptional and aspiring young musicians, providing the support and opportunities necessary to successfully make the leap from full time conservatoire based study to excellence in the music profession.

These intensive year long Fellowships provide both ensembles and individuals with the means and the time to enhance their professional skills and contacts, while pushing and exploring their own artistic development with the invaluable support of a Trinity Laban mentor.

In addition to the Fellowship for String Quartet, the Richard Carne Trust also supports The Richard Carne Junior Fellowship for Individuals at Trinity Laban, which this year has been awarded to clarinettist Harry Cameron-Penny trinitylaban.ac.uk/study/music/junior-fellowships/harry-cameron-penny, and the Richard Carne Quartets in Residence at Trinity Laban.
