Dublin's award winning dance theatre company junk ensemble brings physical new dance work The Falling Song to the Laban Theatre on 11 March. The all-male, international dance cast, supported by a children's choir, explore the nature of flying, falling, self-destruction and invincibility.
Established in 2004 by sisters Jessica and Megan Kennedy, junk ensemble has won numerous Irish industry awards including Culture Ireland Touring Award in 2008; and was listed as a Sunday Times Highlight in 2011. Collaboration with artists from other disciplines has allowed them to create an array of visual and performance styles to spark the imagination of audiences.
Part of their 2014 UK and Ireland tour, The Falling Song features a set of towering ladders, ropes and hundreds of apples where physicality is pushed to extremes by the performers.
The Irish Times said: "An elegant simplicity permeates their work … presenting the ordinary with a sense of clarity and profundity."
junk ensemble will continue to tour The Falling Song throughout the UK until 1 April
