Dance fans have lauded the first shows of the autumn season at Laban Theatre, as it continues to attract critically acclaimed dance artists and companies to its world class performing space in South East London.
The Observer said of Theo Clinkard’s examination of loss, Ordinary Courage: “The veteran dancer turned choreographer has created a powerful – and painterly – piece....” while Dance Tabs said: “Ordinary Courage refuses to be dainty; it throws its sweat at you and dares you to reject it.”
Of Zoi Dimitriou’s The Chapter House, Donald Hutera said: “…clean clear calm methodical shared ritual & fascinatingly artful creative mythology…” (Twitter), while Graham Watts said: “The Chapter House creates a seamless alliance between the serious academic representation and interpretation of dance and the pure enjoyment of a theatrical performance…” (Dance Tabs).
Future shows this autumn include a double bill by Rahel Vonmoos and Marina Collard, the passionate and moving aerial dance performance Rites of War, and works from Alexander Whitley and Raimund Hoghe.
