The worlds of fashion, art and performance come together in a unique event at London's O2 on 14 April.
La Strada is a collective of cross-media designers and artists with a focus on Fashion, Costume, Art and Performance; a fusion of diverse ideas to create totally new forms of expression.
The participants are emerging dancers, actors, musicians, acrobats and young designers, working within fashion, theatre, film and music industries. As well as a group of selected students from Trinity Laban, the collective also features students from The Circus Space, The Aircraft Circus and Ravensbourne, who work under the direction of Founder & Producer Magdalena Glowacka, Artistic Director Allen Barker and guest choreographer Marie-Gabrielle Rotie.
The uniqueness of the show is its circus-like touring nature and the absence of catwalk. Models are replaced by dancers, actors and acrobats and live performances are complemented with animation, live projection and art installations.
The concept of La Strada Fashion Circus was partially built on the legacy of The Structured Theatre Company formed and directed by the Australian born artist and painter Allen Barker at the ICA in London 1976.
The show will consist of a range of live performances and a group exhibition.
