Postgraduate piano student Matthieu Esnult was at the heart of a fundraising evening at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland recently.

The Association of Polish Knights of Malta Volunteers met its target of £5,000 to help the Polish Psychologists Association continue its work to reduce the suicide rate among Polish immigrants in the UK.

Matthieu played music by Polish composers - from Chopin, Lutoslawski to Szymanowski- to the delight of the audience. Newly translated poems by Tadeusz Rozewicz were read by Andrew Visnevski and Brett Brown from RADA and prestidigitator Guillaum Pige.

Matthieu is in the second year of his Masters, studying under Mickhail Kazakevich. Matthieu also has degrees in musicology, literature and philosophy.
