Trinity Laban BA (Hons) Musical Theatre graduates, Rebecca Craven and Ria Horsford, have won two great roles. Rebecca is currently starting as Tracey Turnblad in the musical Hairspray;and Ria has landed the role of Charlene in internet TV show, All about the McKenzies.
Rebecca is best known for starring in BBC1's Waterloo Road, and Hairspray is her professional musical debut, running at the Curve Theatre in Leicester from 28 Feb -5 March.
Rebecca said: "I am so thrilled to be making my professional musical theatre debut in Hairspray as this role is one I've wanted to play since I was a teenager."
Ria currently stars as Charlene in the internationally acclaimed show All About the McKenzies, developed bySamuell Benta. Aware that young people in Britain preferred to watch American entertainment because of the lack of British material they could relate to, Samuell created his own UK family sitcom in the hope it would open doors for the UK cultural scene. The YouTube TV show has recently
received funding for a London Live launch on Freeview.
Since graduating from Trinity Laban in 2010, Ria (second from the left) has appeared in amateur productions including Godspell, The House of Bernada Alba and Stepping Out.
Also in All About the McKenzies is Jason Pennycook (pictured above, third from left) who is has recently been working on Trinity Laban's CoLab jazz tap project, as well as teaching jazz for Musical Theatre students.
