Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is delighted to announce two brand new awards, presented annually to outstanding young performers graduating from its Musical Theatre Programme.
The first recipients of these awards are Nazerene Williams – who wins the Silver Medal – and Lucy Richards – who takes the Director’s Prize for Excellence.
Trinity Laban’s awards are usually presented at the annual graduation ceremony on Wednesday 10 December. However neither Nazerene nor Lucy are able to collect their awards in person because they are both busy working!
Lucy Richards (known professionally as Lucy Thomas) is currently staring as Wendy in Bournemouth Pavilion’s Peter Pan. She recently performed at the Waterloo East Theatre in a production of The Tempest. The show received a five star review by London Theatre in which Lucy’s dancing was described as “exceptional.”
Nazerene Williams, who is graduating in absentia with a First Class degree, is currently performing in Dick Whittington at the Lyric Hammersmith. She comments: “I feel honoured to have been awarded the silver medal. I have genuinely enjoyed my time studying at Trinity Laban on such a fantastic course. The calibre and expertise of the staff and their teaching has really put me in good stead for my career, along with the diverse performance opportunities all year round.”
In recent years Trinity Laban has developed an unparalleled reputation for its unique Musical Theatre programme, which gives students a wide range of skills that can be applied to a variety of musical theatre styles. Trinity Laban graduates are therefore highly employable, and are well prepared for this increasingly competitive and popular section of the British music industry.
