Pianist Wins at Prestigious International Music Competition

Congratulations to pianist Mikhail Shilyaev, who won Third Prize in the prestigious Vianna da Motta International Music Competition in Lisbon in July. Mikhail is currently in his second year of study on the MMus programme at Trinity Laban as one of the Conservatoire's Golubovich scholars.

Mikhail came to Trinity with an impressive musical background. He completed a Diploma at Moscow Conservatory, studied in Munich, completed a post graduate Diploma at the Royal Northern College of Music, and held a Junior Fellowship at the Royal College of Music.  He is now studying with Trinity Laban's Head of Keyboard, Deniz Arman Gelenbe.

Previous winners of the triennial Competition include Nelson Freire, Emanuel Ax, Ida Kavafian, Artur Pizarro and Tao Chang.
