Laban Theatre begins its spring dance season on 28 January 2015 with a UK premiere from the internationally renowned K-Arts Dance Company.
K-Arts has thrilled audiences around the world in prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and in Paris, Tokyo, Beijing and Stockholm. In their first trip to the UK, K-Arts will perform three works which blend contemporary dance with Korean Culture.
Bow focuses on the intent and beauty in the gesture of bowing in eastern culture; Reflection is a look into the moments of connection we experience in life and how it reflects in the body; and the elegant No Comment looks at the way silence can speak.
A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed before the performance by Korea National University of the Arts, which runs K-Arts, and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, cementing the partnership between the two leading dance organisations.
There will also be a short symposium after the performance, Dance Beyond Borders. Chaired by Trinity Laban’s Director of Dance, Mirella Bartrip, it will be an exciting opportunity for cultural exchange in contemporary dance through the development of collaborative projects.
Entry to Dance Beyond Borders is free and open to the public.
Throughout the year, Trinity Laban attracts critically acclaimed dance artists and companies to the world class performing space of the Laban Theatre in Deptford. To find out more about any of the shows in our spring season and book tickets, please visit the Trinity Laban What’s On page.
