This year’s annual U.Dance platform, celebrating the best and brightest youth dance in London, will be taking place on Sunday 26 April at the iconic Laban Theatre in Deptford.
The Greenwich Dance & Trinity Laban Partnership is excited to be playing host to 8 youth dance companies from across the capital, each of which have been selected to perform on the Laban Theatre stage following a call-out for submissions earlier in the year. The 2015 event will have a focus on integrated dance and will include work from SLiDE dance company and a collaboration between Trinity Laban Youth Dance Company and Cando2, featuring both disabled and non-disabled dancers. The evening will showcase some of the most exciting youth dance groups in London performing brand new work - a unique opportunity to champion the quality and vibrancy of young people’s dance and choreography.
The 124 London-based participants, all aged between 11 and 18, will enjoy a day of workshops, rehearsal and presentations, culminating in a public performance that will be watched by a live audience and a panel of dance professionals. The panel will then select two groups to perform at the National U.Dance 2015 Festival in Plymouth, alongside the National Youth Dance Companies of England and Wales.
Trinity Laban Head of Learning & Participation Veronica Jobbins comments: "We’re thrilled to be hosting the London U.Dance platform for the second consecutive year. This event provides a unique opportunity for young people from London to perform on the renowned Laban Theatre stage. This year’s focus on inclusive dance is very relevant to us and the work that we do. I am looking forward to an evening of inspirational and innovative work."
Greenwich Dance Artistic Director Kat Bridge adds: "It’s a real honour to be hosting an event that celebrates the Capital’s fantastic youth dance work and showcases the talents of its diverse young people."
