Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is proud to be
playing a role in the London 2012 Games.
Our Thames-side location in the Old Royal Naval College in
Greenwich means more than 20,000 tourists visiting Greenwich Park,
London's oldest enclosed Royal Park, for the equestrian events, or
watching the big screen, have the opportunity to hear the many
students who have remained in London for the summer.
Many Trinity Laban alumni and students are involved in the
opening and closing ceremonies and the torch relay.
On 26 July, the penultimate day of the torch relay, Trinity
Laban jazz student Tyler Rix carried the Olympic Torch into Hyde
Park and on to the concert stage; Tyler then went on to perform the
saxophone at BT London Live 2012. An estimated 80,000 crowd
gathered to watch Tyler, a footballer as well as a musician, carry
the flame onto the stage and light a huge cauldron to mark the
start of a special concert to celebrate the torch's arrival. Click

Trinity Laban also hosted the lighting of the torch in Deptford
on 23 July. Local MP Joan Ruddock described Trinity Laban as "a
wonderful setting" for the Olympic Flame's journey through
Lewisham: "The Laban [Building] has always been a reason to be
cheerful, ever since its iconic building was built on Creekside ten
years ago."
