New and recent compositions by students and staff from Trinity Laban’s Research and Composition Departments will be performed by the Trinity Laban Contemporary Music Group at Parallax05 at the ICA on Friday 6 February.
Reader in Composition at Trinity Laban and leader of the Parallax05 project, Sam Hayden, says: “The compositions are built on the idea of the ‘parallax’ - the separation of two points where no synthesis is possible – and the programme of works hence juxtapose radically different traditions.”
Parallax05 opens with a symposium on the curation of contemporary classical music today, followed by sound installations outside the ICA theatre. The installation pieces include fixed media electroacoustic works and live electronic performances and will run continuously throughout the evening, finishing with a DJ set at the end. The live performance begins at 19.30h.
These performances, together with Trinity Laban’s strong result in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, demonstrates the strength of the Conservatoire’s embedded research-based approach to creative practises.
Tickets for Parallax05 can be booked directly at the ICA box office.
