This evening (Tue 17 Mar), the Laban Theatre stage will be alive with local children and young people for Lewisham Live, a three week festival of music and dance collaborations across a range of different dance styles, including contemporary, street and ballet.
Trinity Laban’s Animate Orchestra will perform a piece composed by Patrick Bailey, Education and Community Director for the London Philharmonic Orchestra, whilst renowned dance artist and Trinity Laban alumnus Kerry Nicholls has choreographed a work for the specially formed Trinity Laban Performance Company.
The performance is inspired by the BBC’s Ten Pieces project, an initiative for primary schools that aims to inspire children to develop their own creative responses to pieces through classical music, dance and digital art.
Now in its 14th year, the LIVE Dance Showcase has so far seen over 550 children and young people take part, including dancers from Dance Fusion and those doing Youth Ballet classes as part of the Trinity Laban Youth Dance Programme.
