First year Trinity Laban piano student Karl Westwood appeared on ITV's "This Morning" on Monday 24 September as a member of Only Boys Aloud, a Welsh boys' choir established to reinvigorate the Welsh male choral tradition. The group was supporting Jonathan and Charlotte, runners up of this year's Britain's Got Talent, in their rendition of "The Prayer".
Only Boys Aloud also embraces choral singing as a means for the young men to broaden their horizons and grow in ability and self-confidence.
18 year old Karl, a member of Treorchy Only Boys Aloud, said: "I remember starting rehearsals in Treorchy rugby club, and then singing in front of over 14 million people on live prime time television! I never thought that in just two years I would be sat in a recording studio, about to release an album with an international record label.
"For the past two years, I've been a part of the Principality OBA Academy. This has literally been life changing. During these weeks, I have realised that music is what I am passionate about, and what I really want to do in life. After the 2011 Academy, I decided that I wanted to study at a conservatoire, and successfully gained a place at Trinity Laban to study piano performance.
"I feel that I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't for the attitude that Tim and the Team Captains instilled in me at that time."
