Trinity Laban students take to London streets for exhibition

Students from Trinity Laban’s Faculty of Dance feature in a video installation filmed on the streets of London, as part of an upcoming exhibition by artist Susan Hefuna.

CROSSROADS 2002-2016 is an exhibition of four films shot internationally, from Cairo to Frankfurt to London. Shot in single takes from an upper ledge, they document pedestrian bodies in much the same way as CCTV footage does. The dancers, performing notions devised by the artist, intersperse among those going about their daily business, blurring the boundaries of performance art.

Susan Hefuna has been exhibiting her art internationally since 2000. This fascinating project is Susan Hefuna’s fourth solo exhibition with Pi Artworks Istanbul/London. Her work will this year be featured at The Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; and the Whitechapel Gallery, London.

All of the Trinity Laban students involved in CROSSROADS 2002-2016 study the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance. They are: Ella Fleetwood, Caterina Grosoli, Olive Hardy, Blanche Jandin, Hannah Mason, Francesco Migiaccio, Sean Murray, Evie Oldham, Kitty Voget, and Maude Zimmerli.

CROSSROADS 2002-2016 is exhibited from 8 April to 14 May 2016. To find out more, visit the Pi Artworks website.
