Trinity Laban vocal student Becca Marriott recently landed the lead role of Floria Tosca in OperaUpClose's critically acclaimed production of Tosca as it moves to the Soho Theatre for the summer.
Currently training with Alison Wells, Becca began studying classical singing when she was 14 years old. She is now a lyric soprano and actress, performing operatic roles, oratorio, song and early music.
It has been a busy 12 months for Becca. In June 2012 Becca translated, directed and performed in a new production of Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona at City University, London. That July she sang Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) with Thames Philarmonia and a month later took on the role of the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro with Aria Alba as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.
In November she performed at Harrogate Hall as a supporting artist to Lesley Garrett.
Becca also created and directed Music Box the Improvised Musical, a highly successful London based comedy show:www.musicboximprov.com
Time Out said of her Tosca: "The star among the youthful cast is Becca Marriott, giving an intense and tuneful voice to the title character, Floria Tosca...she is utterly convincing as the feisty, petulant diva."
