Wayne McGregor to Give Rare Post-Show Q&A at Laban Theatre

Tue 08 Feb 2011 12.00h

We're excited to announce that Wayne McGregor CBE will be giving a rare post-show audience Q&A at Laban Theatre on March 9.  In 2010 The Times said of the man behind the groundbreaking company Wayne McGregor | Random Dance: 'If any artist has defined the decade - it's Wayne McGregor'.  The New York Times describes him as 'one of the most celebrated and sought-after choreographers of his generation'.

Laban Theatre is delighted to welcome back the renowned company for three performances of its latest feast for the senses, FAR.  This is a great chance to catch the work of one of today's most in-demand choreographers in an intimate setting.

Wayne McGregor's dynamic style and ground-breaking collaborative approach across dance, film, music, visual art, technology and science has seen him create a string of truly unique, interdisciplinary work over the years. His latest work FAR is no exception.

Inspired by the controversial Age of Enlightenment, FAR mines an era that first placed 'a body in question'. Danced by an ensemble of ten incredible performers and the finest exponents of McGregor's singular style, FAR is set to a new, haunting score by electronic superstar Ben Frost.

A prolific dance maker, and the first Resident Choreographer of The Royal Ballet to come from contemporary dance, in the past year alone McGregor has delivered world premieres for New York City Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet and The Royal Opera. He has choreographed movies (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and created headlining sets for Glastonbury. In January 2011, McGregor was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year Honours List. In 2013, he makes his debut with Bolshoi Ballet, with a new Rite Of Spring.
