Top names from the worlds of dance and musical theatre are working on the Dance and Musical Theatre Summer Courses at Trinity Laban this summer.

The Dance Summer School – a two-week course in which participants gain a deeper understanding of contemporary dance – features guest tutors who are stars of the worlds of contemporary and commercial dance. Liam Riddick is a core company member of the acclaimed Richard Alston Dance Company, and in 2012 and 2013 was nominated for the Critics Circle National Dance Award for Outstanding Modern Performance. He is joined by Simeon Qysea, whose choreography credits include creating work for JLS, Dizzee Rascal and Will.i.am as well as working with his own dance company, BirdGang.

The following week, the Musical Theatre Summer School (running from 3-7 August) welcomes Trinity Laban alumnus James Darch as a special guest tutor. Darch is currently playing the role of Sky in Mamma Mia! on London’s West End. Course participants will take a trip to see James perform, and then the following day will work with him on putting together a number from the show.

James says: "I’m thrilled to be returning to Trinity Laban to teach on the Musical Theatre Summer School, helping students from around the world to discover and develop their potential. I’m also particularly excited that they will be coming to see me in action, along with the rest of the London cast of Mamma Mia!"

Participants will also work with Jason Pennycooke, currently starring in Memphis as Bobby Dupree, and Kelly Ewins-Prouse, Assistant Choreographer on Singin’ in the Rain.

Trinity Laban’s summer schools exist to provide the experience of professional-level training to those who are considering a career in music or dance, gaining support and encouragement from those who know what it takes.
