Pilates Teacher Training Programme

Train in the principles of Pilates, covering both mat and machine work, and all aspects of the Pilates method including remedial application. You will find the programme particularly suitable if you wish to work with dancers.

 

Programme Content

On the programme, you will learn about: the principles of the Pilates method and its repertoire, the use of Pilates equipment, methods of adaptation in response to the rehabilitation of injuries and musculo-skeletal imbalances, somatic theory, anatomy and physiology, movement knowledge and analysis, methods of rehabilitating injury, referral and screening, learning and teaching methodologies, business management skills, first aid training, ante-natal and post-natal exercise and working with the elderly. You will also be expected to spend time each week engaged in independent research and self-practice in the studio.

  • Modes of Study

    The Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Programme is an 18 month part-time course and equates to a 1,200 hours minimum training.

  • Entrance Requirements

    You will normally have prior knowledge or training in movement or dance plus a minimum of 25 Pilates sessions taken at Laban immediately prior to commencement of the programme. Additionally a satisfactory level of performance in a Pilates practical session conducted at Laban; evidence at interview of a serious commitment to study in the Pilates method leading to practice, and a positive attitude to the opportunities and demands of the training offered on the Programme. In addition, the following will be required once enrolled on the programme:

    • Trainee membership of the Pilates Foundation
    • Participation in workshops
    • Other training options of relevance as and when they occur
    • Personal and public liability insurance cover

    The course is only open to UK/EU students.

  • Course Fees

    The course fees can be found HERE.  Fees can be paid in installments. There will be an initial payment at commencement of the course followed by installments in September 2013, January 2014 and September 2014. The course can also be paid for by accessing the Career Development Loan Scheme (UK Residents only).
