These workshops are influenced by Release-based technique to increase creativity, fitness and confidence. The classes focus on alignment, co-ordination use of weight and musicality to encourage freedom of movement, and most importantly a sense of fun and enjoyment!
Presented by Trinity Laban and taught by Will Aitchison
Will trained at London Contemporary Dance School where he gained BA Hons in contemporary dance. He then went on to become a member of Transitions Dance Company at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance a programme that brings together the world's most exciting choreographers and exceptional young dancers which toured the UK, Japan and Singapore. After Transitions Will performed in Matthew Bourne's 'Swan Lake' completing two International Tours, a UK tour and Sadler's Wells season. Will has taught at graduate and undergraduate level as well as many youth and community projects and more recently at Arts Educational Schools London. He is currently the lead teacher on the Centre for Advanced Training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Will is still performing and choreographing professionally and recently had the fantastic opportunity to perform at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony.

EdgeFwd will be performing in the evening performance platform at Pick Up the Pace Revisited. The group will be leading a basic contemporary dance workshop for 8 - 14 year olds led by EdgeFWD dance company members.
This Dance Theatre workshop will explore the wonderfully physical repertoire from EdgeFWD;s 'Alpha' choreographed by Anthony Missen ( Company Chameleon) which they will perform in The Laban Theatre for Pick up the Pace Revisited.
This fun and accessible session will include dynamic floor work, partnering skills all taught with a touch of EdgeFWD's signature wit and charm.

During the workshop you'll experience John's passion for strong physical and energised movement combined with more theatrical elements from John's early interest in drama, from the beginning of his career, which still heavily drives his dance making today.
You'll also get to learn repetoire from John Ross Dance's latest all male piece 'Wolf Pack' , which you'll then see performed live at the end of the day.
John Ross is an emerging choreographic talent, Artistic Director of John Ross Dance and one of the current winners of Matthew Bournes, New Adventures Choreography Award (NACA).
John, originally from Dundee in Scotland, began his training as an Actor at The Space, Dundee College. This led him on to his dance career where he began at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance before moving on to London Contemporary Dance School (The Place) where he graduated with a 1st Class Hons Degree.

A dynamic workshop fusing the athleticism and buoyant energy of Cotswold morris with the creativity of contemporary dance, accompanied by live music. Dancers will need to wear footwear - eg trainers (not suitable for bare feet). The workshop will be led by Laurel Swift (folk dance artist and musician, EFDSS Associate Artist, director of Morris Offspring)

African and Contemporary Dance

Tavaziva Dance was created by Zimbabwean-born founder, Artistic Director Bawren Tavaziva in 2004 as a London-based UK touring repertory dance company. It presents cutting-edge new work representing the diversity of Black British Dance, creating and presenting high quality dance and music productions, fusing African and contemporary dance and music styles. Delivered by Bawren, The workshop will introduce participants to the company's trademark African and contemporary dance styles, aiming to challenge, inspire, and leave participants challenged yet invigorated!
