Distance Learning

Distance learning, sometimes called flexible or open learning, is a programme of study that consists of video, printed or online materials that allow students to study at home. Some courses include a residential or day school. Some colleges and universities offer courses or programmes entirely over the Internet - often called e-courses or online courses.

The Open University (OU)
The OU is a distance learning university. Their method is 'supported open learning': you study on your own, at a time that suits you, with support from a tutor or online forum, student advisers and study facilities in your own region, and contact with other students at tutorials, day schools or through online conferencing, online social networks, informal study groups, and events.

Open College of the Arts (OCA)
The OCA is a specialist provider of university level distance learning courses in the Creative Arts, including music. Students can study their courses to develop their skills or to gain credits towards a degree.
