Trinity Laban's thriving Students Union is central to life within the Conservatoire and serves as an effective and trustworthy mediator between students and the Conservatoire administration and is also the instigator of social events.

The Student Union is here to provide you with an enjoyable university life alongside your studies in as many ways as possible. Delivering a full range of fantastic events for students at Trinity Laban throughout the course of the year, we aim to make the transition from home to Conservatoire life as smooth as possible. Kicking off the year with a huge Freshers' Festival, a great opportunity is provided to meet and mingle with new students in the same position as yourself, across various courses, other years and institutes, ensuring you feel more comfortable and welcome in your first experience of life at Trinity Laban.

Currently in close contact with Goldsmiths University in New Cross, we are creating strong links and broadening the opportunities for Trinity Laban students to enjoy a richer social life. Throughout the year we will be hosting bigger and better joint events that will ensure an even greater number of students will meet and socialise, along with regular student nights at their onsite venue.

Trinity Laban is also part of a union called All London Colleges Of Music (ALCOM). Together with Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music we organise large intercollegiate events and sports team challenges. These events are a fantastic opportunity to meet and socialise with large numbers of students along with the excellent parties we organise across a variety of London venues.

However, as well as being the instigator of exciting social events, the Student Union also works incredibly hard to serve as an effective and trustworthy mediator between students and the Conservatoire administration, to represent your views as best we can and help with any other issues you may face. The students are the most important part of Trinity Laban and it is our job to ensure your voices are heard and interests protected.

Within the stimulating environment of Trinity Laban you are able to play to your strengths and most importantly learn new skills that will set you up for the challenging and diverse profession you wish to enter.

City University, London, is the validating body for Laban courses. Staff and graduate students have full access to its library, and students studying on courses validated by the University may become members of its Students Union.

Student Union Elections

Members of the student body are elected annually to serve on the TLSU Committee to represent first hand the interests of all its students. Whatever your interest, there is a place for you.

We very much look forward to expanding, making the union bigger and better, to help and assist all students as best we possibly can. :)

Being part of the Student Union is not only great for your social life, constantly liaising with new students and staff, it also helps build confidence and leadership skills, and along with gaining valuable experience as a student representative, it will also look fantastic on your CV.

You will also have the unique opportunity to express the voices and opinions of your peers/colleagues to the Union and to make an impressionable difference.

Heiner Goebbels: Surrogate Cities

"The orchestra was the real star, however, playing with terrific enthusiasm. The percussionists in particular, whirling vertiginously on a gallery above the tiers of musicians below, deserved a medal."
