My best experiences were the ‘Feast in a Forest’ composition department outing to Epping Forest, meeting Trinity Laban alumnus John Powell at Abbey Road Studios, and attending ENO opera rehearsals with Stephen Montague. Other highlights were the 2014 Rude Health concert series, where we collaborated with art and design students from Central St Martin’s, and playing bass drum in Stephen Montague’s Requiem in St John’s Smith Square.

Because of the many opportunities that Trinity Laban has offered, I understand that music need not necessarily be in a traditional concert setting; what an audience experiences visually has an impact on how they listen to the music.

The best thing about CoLab was witnessing the rehearsals and performances of an extraordinary variety of projects, as well as taking part in your own. I learnt what it is possible to produce in a week of concentrated working with a group of people. It develops humility and understanding of behaviours other than your own

Being in London I really appreciate the closeness to all the music, art, culture and entertainment that London has to offer. When one’s studies have finished, it is easier to continue living in London, which may be the best way to begin a career in music.
