The local area: Greenwich and Deptford

From the historic grandeur of Greenwich to the cutting edge cool of Deptford our local area provides a culturally diverse and exceptionally vibrant place to live and study all within easy reach of central London.

The Faculty of Music is located in King Charles Court, one of the spectacular buildings that make up Greenwich's Old Royal Naval College, a World Heritage Site.  Greenwich is famous as the home of Greenwich Mean Time and houses a host of renowned landmarks including the Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory.  In addition to its historical significance Greenwich more recently played host to some of the most exciting and entertaining events in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Greenwich isn't just a tourist attraction: it's one the most desirable locations for Londoners to live and has a thriving and welcoming local community.   Its Covered Market opens daily and features vintage and craft stalls, quirky independent shops and delicious food from around the world. There's also plenty of cafes and restaurants to refuel and an excellent selection of pubs and bars for that all important post-study drink.

Greenwich is easily accessible from across London: just 10 minutes on the train from the centre of town and connected via the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to East London.

The Faculty of Dance is located in the Laban Building half way between Greenwich and Deptford. Deptford is a vibrant, diverse and fast-changing destination with a flourishing artistic community.  With a buzzing high street, in which one of the oldest markets in London is held three times a week, and a host of new galleries, studios, cafes and arts centres Deptford has changed much in the last few years and is now a hotbed of young, creative energy.
