Professor Anthony Bowne is Principal of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and has previously held senior positions both at Laban and, post-merger, at Trinity Laban. Anthony took up the role of Director of Laban in 2003 and, during this time, he led the Laban client team on the project to deliver a new home for the organisation for which Herzog and de Meuron won the Stirling Prize. Anthony played a key role in the successful merger of Laban with Trinity College of Music, in 2005, and continued to lead the Dance provision within the new Institution. In 2006, Anthony was appointed Joint Principal of Trinity Laban. His focus has been, and remains, the development of Trinity Laban as an international hub for the development of performing artists who will lead their art forms throughout the first half of the 21st century. Anthony’s early career was as an industrial financial analyst. Later, he held an academic position at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and his experience as an educator was balanced with creative expertise as a lighting designer for both theatre and architecture. Projects include theatre design for Adventures in Motion Pictures, Hong Kong Ballet, Rosemary Butcher, the Cholmondeleys and the National Theatre of Taiwan and architectural design for the World Finance Centre in Shanghai, Chijms in Singapore and Joyce retail stores in Hong Kong.
