  • Introduction

    Mary Kate is a writer, researcher, and movement practitioner. She is currently Programme Coordinator for the MA Creative Practice, and lectures on a number of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in the Dance Department of Trinity Laban. She also holds a research and coordinating post within Dance Science, developing the department’s research and consultancy strands.

    As a freelance writer, Mary Kate writes on performance for a variety of publications in the UK and abroad. Formerly Company Manager for iceandfire theatre, she works from time to time as a movement director for theatre productions, and teaches ballet technique on the Centre for Advanced Training at Trinity Laban.

  • Qualifications / Educational Background

    Originally from Ireland, Mary Kate completed her undergraduate studies at Inchicore College, Dublin, and holds an Masters Degree in Dance from Roehampton University.

  • Teaching Experience

    As a Royal Academy of Dance registered teacher Mary Kate has taught internationally, working with young people and adults in Dublin, New Zealand, and London.

  • Creative Outputs

    Research:

    Through her research post within Dance Science at Trinity Laban, Mary Kate's particular area of interest has been in the impact of dance on non-elite communities, including teenagers and the elderly. Her research has been presented at a number of conferences including:
