  • Introduction

Phil Peskett attended Leeds College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music, and was lucky enough to study with some of the country’s leading jazz educators including Nikki Iles, Pete Churchill and Simon Purcell. Phil believes that this thorough grounding in the theory of jazz has proved invaluable equally in his work as a performer and as a professor at Trinity.

In addition to his extensive work as an accompanist, Phil also leads his own bands - a trio and a quintet, for which he writes original compositions.

He has worked for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), submitting a number of compositions and arrangements for their jazz syllabus, as well as working as a jazz examiner.

Phil’s work sometimes extends into the realms of pop music. He most recently worked with Moloko, playing keyboards on their ‘Statues’ European tour. He is currently performing with singer Natalie Williams.
