Rebecca graduated from Trinity Laban with a BA Honours Dance Theatre degree with First Class Honours and the Sylvia Bodmer Memorial Fund Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreological Studies in 2003. Rebecca then studied at London Contemporary Dance School as a performer with EDge graduating in 2009 with a PostGraduate Diploma with Distinction and then an MA in Performance with Distinction in 2010.
Rebecca is currently a Doctoral Researcher at the Centre for Dance Research (c-DaRE) at Coventry University, situated in the field of dance analysis. Her research examines annotation as an alternative mode of analysis for contemporary movement practices and the combined impact of digital processes on the way dance is seen, analysed, interpreted and understood.
Rebecca is a member of faculty at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and lectures in release-based technique. Her movement practice focuses on efficiency and articulation of the body in motion supported by the use of weight and breath. Her work is informed by the principles of Bartenieff, Laban, contact improvisation and by her work as a myofasicial release therapist.
Rebecca is an academic tutor and lecturer in Arts Analysis and Appreciation at Bird College and has worked as a Guest Lecturer on the MA programmes at Trinity Laban, City University London, and on the BA programmes at London Studio Centre and Coventry University.
As a performer Rebecca has most recently worked with Yvonne Rainer (2014) and featured in the 2015 BBC4 documentary Dance Rebels: A Story of Modern Dance. Until recently Rebecca was Editorial Assistant for the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practice and Newsletter Editor for the Society for Dance Research. Rebecca has a private practice as a bodywork therapist and offers treatments in holistic massage, deep tissue massage, and myofascial release.
