Biography

Born in Paris, Florence Daguerre de Hureaux settled in London in 1982 and trained as a singer at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.

Because of her interest in the French repertoire and her love of language, she soon became in great demand as a French language coach, working at opera houses all over England and Europe. She has recently been coaching at Glyndebourne ( Le Comte Ory, Pelleas et Melisande and Carmen ), Covent Garden ( Platee ), Opera Zuid in Holland (Martinu’s Julietta ), Il Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in Italy (Carmen) and Stockholm Royal Opera (Carmen) as well as at the Royal Academy of Music (L’Enfant et les Sortileges and Cendrillon) and Trinity College of Music.

As well as lecturing and doing pre-concert talks, she has worked with singers such as Joan Rogers, Dame Josephine Barstow, John Mark Ainsley, Katerina Karneus, Louise Winter, Susan Gritton and Renee Fleming, in preparation for operatic roles, recitals and recordings.
