Biography

Teresa Cahill’s career began at Glyndebourne with performances of Die Zauderflöte (first Lady) and later Falstaff (Alice Ford). She has sung over 100 performances at Covent Garden including Sophie ( Der Rosenkavalier ) under Carlos Kleiber, Elvira/Zerlina ( Don Giovanni ) and Servilia ( La Clemenza di Tito ), which she sang at La Scala, Milan. Her many concert appearances include Mahler’s 8th Symphony with Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, also with Riccardo Chailly to open the 1987 Berlin Festival, with Michael Gielen at the Vienna Festival and with Eliahu Inbal in Frankfurt (recorded by Denon), Mahler’s 4th Symphony with Tennstedt/London Philharmonic, Sir Michael Tippett’s 3rd Symphony conducted by the composer and Shostakovich 14th Symphony with Dietrich Fisher-Dieskau/WDR cologne Orchestra conducted by Gary Bertini. Her recording debut was with Klemperer and her CDs include music by Mozart, Elgar, Strauss, Mahler, Lutyens and Saxton.

Teaching Experience

Teresa is regularly on the jury of many national and international voice competitions including the National Mozart Competition, the Kathleen Ferrier, the Royal Overseas League and the International Vocal Concours in S'Hertogenbosch, where she also gives masterclasses. Other masterclasses include the Royal Academy of Music, Oxford University and Dartington Summer School.
