Fee Status

As a student coming to register at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, you are required to pay the fee appropriate to your programme of study and to your status as a Home, International or Channel Islands/Isle of Man student. Tuition fees are set at different levels depending on your residency.

The regulations that define which groups of students all UK universities must charge the 'home' rate of fee to, are set out in legislation made by the UK government. Trinity Laban makes fee status decisions in line with this legislation and does not operate a discretionary policy outside this legislation.

Trinity Laban applies UK government legislation to decide which fee level a student should be charged, and does not operate a discretionary policy outside of this. For further guidance on how these assessments are made please consult UKCISA: The UK Council for International Student Affairs.

In general, the following criteria is considered when considering eligibility for Home fee:

  • Your status in the UK (e.g. whether you are a UK national, EU national or what other type of permission you have to live in the UK)
  • Where you are living on the first day of the first academic year of your programme
  • How long you have lived in the UK
  • The type and purpose of your residence in the UK. There are special rules if you normally live in the UK but you have been living somewhere else temporarily e.g. because of your parent's temporary employment overseas

There are eleven different categories on the UKCISA website where a Home fee status is applicable and they will be applied to establish your eligibility. If you do not meet any of these categories, you will be charged the International fee.

For 2017 entry, European students continue their eligibility for Home fee status.

Swiss students

Swiss students should be aware of recent changes to the guidelines that may mean international fees will apply in their case. Clause seven of the UKCISA conditions for home fees now indicates that it is not enough to be the child of a Swiss national and resident in the UK at the start of a programme of study, rather a parental figure must also be resident in the UK at the same time. Please look at the UKCISA website for info.
