1. How do I register for the workshops?

2. What do the workshops consist of?
A practical workshop across two days comprising creative sessions, presentations and discussions about the Graduate School (Masters and Research Degrees) and an opportunity to audition for the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance and the Postgraduate Diploma Community Dance, on Sunday. The workshop leaders will also assess the level of participants interested in the Masters in Dance Performance programme / Postgraduate Diploma in Performance (Transitions Dance Company).

3. Do I need to prepare anything?
No. The workshop leaders will provide all the material you will be working on during the weekend.

4. Do I need to send my application for any of the programmes to Laban?

No. You will need to bring it with you on your first day of the workshop. If you have any queries about the application you can discuss it with Laban faculty during the Q&A session. References can be sent later.

5. How do I get an application a form to apply for Laban programmes?
You can download an application form for Laban programmes here.  Please fill it in and bring it with you on your first day of the workshop.

6. Which of the programmes require an audition?

Those interested in Masters should attend the workshops to hear more about the range of programmes available within the Graduate School and to discuss your interest with members of the Laban dance faculty.

7. Can I audition for the undergraduate programme?
Yes, the audition for the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance will be an integral part of the workshop.

8. Can I attend only one day of the weekend?
Yes but only if you are not auditioning for any of the programmes mentioned in question 6, in which case you need to attend both days.

9. Can I attend the workshops if I'm not applying to one of Laban programmes?
Yes, as long as there are places available. Preference will be given to participants interested in Laban programmes and to those who need to apply by audition.

10. I would like to apply for Masters in Dance Performance / Transition Dance Company. What is the process?
You can attend the weekend workshop where the workshop leaders will assess your suitability for the programme. If they think you are at an appropriate level, you'll be recommended for the auditions in London (dates to be confirmed).

11. What is Laban looking for?
Laban faculty will assess each candidate's physicality, facility and evidence of potential to meet the particular demands of the selected programmes; the performance qualities and capacity to engage in the dance material and his/her creative engagement in improvisation.

12. What are the fees?
You can check our current fees here. New fees for Academic Year 2011-12 will be published on the website in early 2011.

13. Who are the workshop leaders?
The workshops will be lead by Dr. Martin Hargreaves, Dr. Emma Reading and Mr. Tony Thatcher. For more information see their biographies.

14. What do I need to bring?
Please wear comfortable clothing for the workshop. No jazz or ballet shoes as the workshop will be in bare feet.

17. I would like to transfer to one of your programmes. What is the process?
Transfers will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Admissions Officer, Maggie Kelly, at [email protected] for more information.

18. Can I apply to more than one programme?
Yes. You can decide which programme you would like to follow once you have been made an offer.

19. If I can't attend the audition, can I apply directly to Laban?

20. When will I hear if I've been accepted?
Audition results will normally be sent by post 4 to 6 weeks after the audition date. If you are applying for a Masters or Research Degree you should be contacted within 6 to 8 weeks of receipt of your application.

22. When does the academic year starts / finish?
