Trinity Laban strives to recruit talented young musicians and dancers regardless of their background and financial circumstances. However, students often struggle with the financial pressures of paying fees and the costs of living in London.
Each year over 200 Trinity Laban students benefit from
scholarships. They range from the lowest level of support at £1,000
per year, to a few exceptional scholarships of £25,000 per year,
which covers both tuition fees and living costs. Scholarships are
awarded for excellence, but donors often wish to ensure that
financial need is a factor in scholarship selection.
The cost of training at conservatoire level is high. For
example, the fees to complete 4 years undergraduate training at
Trinity for a UK/EU student amounts to £14,000 plus maintenance
costs, and for overseas students this rises to £56,000 plus
maintenance. At Laban the fees to complete 3 years undergraduate
training for a UK/EU student amounts to £9,700 plus maintenance,
and for overseas students this rises to £40,000 plus
maintenance.
Finance is especially crucial for Postgraduate students, as they
will already have been subject to 3 or 4 years of fees and
maintenance costs for their undergraduate study. The fees to
complete 2 years postgraduate training for a UK/EU student at
Trinity amounts to £14,000, and for an overseas student this rises
to £28,000. In addition, the British Council's estimate of the cost
of living in London for 2 years adds a further £20,000 to these
figures.
Ways to Support
Scholarship gifts are welcome at any level: each gift makes a
difference. Supporters who wish to make a gift towards scholarships
can make a gift to the Trinity Laban Scholarship Fund or
can establish a Named Scholarship.
