The Healthy Dance Practice Certificate is an exciting initiative developed by Safe in Dance International (SiDI). SiDI works closely with the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science (NIDMS) and One Dance UK's Healthier Dancer Programme. SiDI's Certificates and continuing professional development is endorsed by the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET). The International Association for Dance Medicine and Science supports the Core Principles that underpin the Certificate. The Certificate will be assessed by SiDI.
The Healthy Dance Practice Certificate recognises best practice in delivering safe and effective dance activity at all levels of participation (professional dancers, dancers in training, children, and dancers in the community) and is relevant to practitioners working in any dance style. In achieving the Certificate, candidates will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of healthy dance practice to employers, parents, and participants. Dancers at all levels will have confidence that the person teaching, rehearsing, or coaching them has demonstrated mastery of the knowledge required to work safely and effectively.
The qualification will be assessed by SiDI.
How can I take the Certificate?
The Certificate can be taken by anyone who feels ready for the assessment. To take the Certificate as an individual, practitioners register with Safe in Dance International and pay for the assessments. Trinity Laban is offering training and support to help prepare practitioners to take the assessment. If you choose to attend the full three-day course, the fee includes registration with Safe in Dance International.
