The Teaching Musician – Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and MA
Trinity Laban’s vocational and flexible postgraduate certificate/diploma in music education practice is open to experienced music leaders, tutors, community musicians, animateurs or any musician working in learning or participatory settings, within or outside of the UK. It is designed for practitioners looking for a sustained training programme that can be completed alongside a professional career. Please note that this qualification does not offer QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
Music Teaching Diplomas: Trinity Guildhall
Trinity Guildhall’s teaching diplomas provide a range of accredited qualifications for teachers working in a variety of different teaching situations. The primary focus of the diplomas at ATCL and LTCL levels is to provide evidence of the candidate’s ability to apply particular skills in a teaching context. The teaching diplomas are available to take externally. Candidates can study for their diploma on their own, with their teacher or through a course.
Certificate for Music Educators (CME)
The CME is a qualification for all music educators working in England with children and young people, whether they work privately, in music hubs, orchestras, community music organisations or other settings. Developed by the music education sector, led by Arts Council England and Creative and Cultural Skills, the CME is designed to support inspiring, motivational learning and to be relevant to all music educators, regardless of the musical genre they work in or the stage of their career. The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) will be acting as an awarding body for the CME and they are currently working with music services, music hubs, colleges and organisations around the country to establish a list of course providers for the ABRSM CME qualification.
Colourstrings

The British Kodály Academy
The British Kodály Academy (BKA) runs an annual programme of courses for those wanting to teach music using principles advocated by Zoltán Kodály. See website for details.
