TRINITY LABAN INTERCOLLEGIATE STRING QUARTET COMPETITION

Quartets from the UK Conservatoires meet to compete in this competition by playing at least one movement from a Beethoven Quartet and a set work.

4 Broken Records, a new piece composed by Trinity Laban composition student Will Handysides, has been selected as the setwork for the competition.

Trinity Laban gratefully acknowledges the first-time support for this competition of The Richard Carne Trust.

TALK: GENETIC SCIENCE AND MUSIC/GENETICS ETHICS

Deirdre Gribbin

Dr Deirdre Gribbin, Professor of Composition at Trinity Laban and a Leverhulme Artist in Residence at Cambridge University has been working with Dr Sarah Teichmann, Group Leader in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge University, to compose a new piece called Hearing Your Genes Evolve, inspired by human genetic variation.

In this talk, they explain the sequences, structures and interactions that occur in genetics and how they can be conveyed through sound.
